The daughter of an opera singer mother and a father who once sang back-up for Harry Belafonte, Carmichael grew up in the world of music and music theater. She would later go on to study vocal music at the University of Maryland before making her way to Atlanta to front the 10-piece Funk/Jazz band Sirius B. -- part of the Groovement family that included artists like then-unknowns Donnie and India.Arie.

In 2010, after a single weekend of synchronistic meetings, Carmichael connected with the men who would form the Faith Carmichael Quartet.

Stars in their own right, the group boasts Georgia State music instructor and local jazz icon Craig Shaw on upright bass, renowned jazz pianist Louis Heriveaux, acclaimed jazz drummer Henry Conerway and rising star and soul/jazz guitarist Scott Clayton.

Together, they have fashioned a beautiful, inimitable sound that has the ability to get you on your feet, drop you to your knees and keep you remembering that not-so-familiar, familiar song, long after the last note is played.
